Abstract

This paper presents a new single-phase inverter configuration capable of eliminating common-mode voltage (CMV), referred to as a single-phase buck-boost quasi-Z source common-ground inverter (1P-BBqZS-CGI). The 1P-BBqZS-CGI configuration is built on a quasi-Z source (qZS), a conventional DC-DC buck-boost converter and two additional switches to realize the inverter function (DC-AC). In this configuration, the negative point of the load output is directly connected to the negative point of the DC input source. As a result, this interconnection configuration can completely eliminate the leakage current as well as the common-mode voltage. In addition, the 1P-BBqZS-CGI configuration has a high voltage gain and the use of film capacitors instead of electrolytic capacitors makes the inverter more efficient and reliable than previous common-ground inverter configurations. To verify the theoretical basis presented in the paper on the operating modes, control algorithms as well as the performance of the 1P-BBqZS-CGI configuration, simulation and experimental results are carried out with the support of PSIM software, laboratory test models.
