This paper presents the advantages of the scaled boundary finite element method for analysis of two-dimensional problems with general boundaries condition. The scaled boundary finite element formulation is formulated within a general framework including the influence of distributed body source, mixed boundary condition, contributions of the side face. The linear elasticity problem is presented to verify the proposed method with the analytical solution. Numerical example shows the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. The proposed method could be investigated with the other shape functions and developed for three-dimensional problems.
