Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study on setting up a system that uses emulated signals to activate the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) control process. Simulated signals are identified and set based on information about the specific vehicle model. From there, the emulator system creates similar signals that input the PCM. The output control signals are collected and measured by the Ni-CompacRio and displayed on the computer interface via LabVIEW software. In addition, the system includes an OBD2 (On-board Diagnostics) connector to read diagnostic codes and operating data. The study tested the PCM of the 2nd generation Kia Morning vehicle successfully. The results show that the emulator system can activate and measure the same as specific control modes. The study helps to check operating parameters and evaluate control programs and algorithms. Furthermore, the diagnostic device's displayed parameters and data can aid in training the engine control system.
